More about the WellLife™ program can be discovered on the WellLife™ Program webpage. Washington Walking™ is a county-wide all-ages activity program so flexible it fits everybody’s lifestyle! The Washington Walking™ website is designed to increase people’s physical activity by providing support for members to track their miles and calories burned. One can also track clinical data such as total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, height and weight. All information is confidential. An added feature to the program is the capability to issue and accept individual and group challenges. For example, a participant can challenge another registered participant to walk 20 miles in a month. Or a company can create a walking group for their employees to encourage physical activity. The group can also challenge another company group to who walks the most miles in three months. The website contains a wealth of information to get people started. In the “Health Tips” link at the top of the page, one can review safety and walking tips, walking facts, clothing and equipment requirements, walking locations, health information and much more. To become a member, vist the Washington Walking™ website, click on the “Become a Member” link at the top of the page, and follow the registration instructions. Internet access and an e-mail account are needed to join. If you do not have an e-mail account, there are options on the “Becoming a Member” page that will show you how to get a free one. Internet access is available at a local library, senior center, or school. Members of the Community Wellness Task Force include representatives from Aging Services of Washington County, Arthritis Foundation, Canonsburg General Hospital, Citizens Library, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Monongahela Valley Hospital, Observer Publishing Company, Student Association, Inc. at California University of Pennsylvania, The Mark and Kimberly Miller Charitable Foundation, The Washington Hospital, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and Wilfred R.
